Vicem Yachts is Expanding its Horizons With the Vision Line

Vicem is expanding its horizons beyond mahogany construction into high-tech composite construction with three new sleek, fast yachts, including a 32m/105’, 35m/118’ and 46m/151’ for its Vision Line. All three yachts will be launched in 2011.

In order to continue with speeds in the 20 plus knots range and keep draft as shallow as possible for USA/Bahamas operation, Vicem decided on Cored Fiberglass construction for this series. The first step was joining forces with Dutch naval architect/designer Frank Mulder who has designed many fast megayachts well-known worldwide. To utilize the state of the art in fiberglass yacht construction, Mulder specified Core-Cell and Epoxy resin for the entire structure. Core-Cell has the best characteristics of any core material for “off gassing”, insuring a finished hull and superstructure that can be painted in any color. The hull and superstructure are also post-cured with large heat blankets after lamination, ensuring a fair and smooth appearance with any color.

The Vision Line yachts are built in a state-of-the-art facility in Anatolia, Turkey. Composite materials, applied with resin infusion and sandwich techniques, were chosen to achieve the best possible strength-to-weight ratios. All Vicem plants are clean, pleasant factories without the obnoxious unhealthy vapors that exist in other yacht building factories that use cheaper polyester resins that are loaded with unhealthy styrene’s. Even the Vicem Classic and Cruiser lines utilize the more expensive and healthy epoxy resins in construction.

Integral tank construction was also introduced with the Vision series, which provides more internal room for accommodations and the ability to carry more fuel for oceangoing trips at lower speeds. Frank Mulder designed fast hulls for this Vicem Vision series, with a fine entry for rough sea conditions; they are also very fuel efficient at slow displacement speeds. RINA certification was always available on Vicem Yachts. On the Vision series RINA and MCA are standard, which brings Vicem to a new level for offshore cruising and chartering.

“We want a reputation as a builder of light, beautiful and fast hulls” says Alberto Perrone Da Zara – Vicem Yachts CEO. – Vicem enters the superyacht segment with a serious, high-quality, purpose built superyacht that has nothing to envy of the yachts built in Northern Europe.” The 46-metre superyacht has involved Dutch naval architect Frank Mulder and noted interior design firm Art-Line Interiors. “On a boat this size, with such high expectations of performance, the choice of the ‘right’ naval architect was an important one. Nobody has rich a palmares as Frank Mulder does,” says Da Zara.

“Vicem are so pleased with Mulder’s work that we are also building a 32-metre and a 35-metre to his designs. Frank Mulder, known for high-speed yacht hulls like Octopussy, Moonraker, Blue Velvet, and The World Is Not Enough, design the new Vicem Vision superyacht outline, mandating the lightest and most advanced materials. The yachts will be launched in summer 2011”. The yard has strong collaborations with the most prestigious yacht interior design “griffes” like Art Line, Wetzels Brown Partners and last but not least Ken Freivokh.

Vision Series Mission

A world class yacht for charter or private use, the Vision Series adds long range capabilities for ocean voyages together with an outstanding and durable low maintenance exterior. Due to the latest design and construction techniques, interior volume has been increased when compared to many other yachts in the same size range. Interiors are tailored to client requests and can be fully integrated with exterior colors, styling and finishes due to Vicem’s superior construction techniques which allow finishing in dark colors and/or metallic finishes.

With this 46 meter yacht, Vicem decided to enter into the composite megayacht segment without making compromises.  With the assistance of outstanding design firms such as Frank Mulder for exterior and naval architecture, and Art Line for the interiors, Vicem set out to build a 46 meter semi-displacement yacht which is lighter and faster than the industry standard, achieving 25 knots as top speed, while maintaining high-efficiency cruising and long range capability of 4,000 Nm @ 12 knots, thus creating an extremely versatile ship.

Art-Line Studios designed the Vision 46m interior, bringing a new definition to the word luxury. A 200 ton yacht, powered by twin 3,650 HP MTU engines, delivers efficient ocean-crossing range at reduced speed. Her three decks plus Sun-deck design provides outstanding elegance for the knowledgeable owner, and five cabins of thrilled guests. Her signature open atrium design provides 45 feet of unbroken natural lighting, from the very top of the Sun-deck all the way down to the Lower Deck.

The main deck’s Master Suite uses every inch of this yachts’ 30 foot beam, and includes a CEO’s office and a private gym. A graceful wraparound entry way leads to an inviting Jacuzzi and an arcing full-width head. Farther aft is the galley, a dining area for ten, and a relaxing lounge and a spacious upper lounge area. Its impeccable construction and craftsmanship, thanks to Vicem’s internal team of 400 specialized craftsmen and the RINA/MCA Long Range classifications, make this mega yacht a very serious contender in today’s mega yacht world.

Vision 35m Trideck

Vicem Vision Line 35 - Majestic Blue

When designing the 35m Trideck, Vicem wanted to achieve spaces and volumes from much larger three deckers in a 35 meter hull.  A Frank Mulder design, this Tri-deck provides excellent quality of life on board for up to 12 guests and is certified for RINA Short Range Charter Class.

The generous exterior spaces on three decks are complemented by a beach-pad that appears from the drop-down stern garage, allowing guests to fully enjoy their rest and relaxation by the sea. With a top speed of 21 knots and a range of 1,600 Nm @ 12 knots make this Vicem creation a very versatile player in this super yacht segment. In addition, Ken Freivokh design has been the choice for the interiors.

This Vision 35m tri-deck is a five stateroom yacht, including a full-beam master suite and two full-beam VIP staterooms. There is a captain’s cabin on the main deck and two double crew cabins with a lounge and galley in the crew quarters. Tenders are hidden in the foredeck (to achieve a sleek exterior look) and there is additional garage storage at the transom.

Frank Mulder’s idea was to create a sleek and sinuous yacht line without compromising interior spaces, which on unit n°1 will be designed by Wetzels Brown Partners.  The raised pilothouse configuration provides excellent main deck spaciousness; indeed, the owner can enjoy a standard master cabin forward on the main deck while the VIP guests have a full beam suite below decks.  The external sporty profile complements a dynamic lifestyle, but the ship can achieve a very interesting range of 1,350 Nm while navigating at a fin-stabilized speed of 12 knots, all with RINA Short-Range Charter class certification.

The Vicem Vision 32m is a raised pilothouse design uniquely featuring easy access to the foredeck both from the boat deck on the port side and the main deck on the starboard side, creating a full beam, on-deck master stateroom. In addition to five guest epoxy/core-cell staterooms, the yacht has two crew cabins (with access from the galley), and all have en-suite heads. The main tender is on the flybridge deck, and there are two wave runners in a transom garage.
