Bluewater recruit a new chief interior instructor

December has proved to be an excellent month for our ever developing interior & galley training school as we announce that Miss Kirsty Angell has joined the team at bluewater as chief interior instructor.

Buewater: John, Liz & Kirsty

Miss Angell will be working with us over the busy winter training seasons in the Med.  She joins us from her role as chief stewardess onboard a 60m motor yacht managing & training the interior staff of two large motor yachts and 2 private aeroplanes.

Having worked in the industry as a chief stewardess for the past 15 years Miss Angell has the knowledge, skills and patience to take our students from various levels of experience and give them practical knowledge needed to develop into professional interior crew.

Bluewater has invested much time and resources into developing the interior and galley training school at the same time.  “In a training simulation or in everyday life onboard, these departments really do go hand in hand” John Wyborn, bluewater director. Courses in these departments at bluewater will now work together to help the students to gain as much practical experience as possible.

After much research we have created 5 new courses with the help of Miss Angell to really develop essential skills needed by the students.  These courses are interior foundation (3days), interior management (5 days), service foundation (1 day), advanced service (3days) and the cocktail foundation (1 day)… We are also now running the WSET Level I (1 day) and II (2.5days) certificate in wine courses.

We realise that the role of steward/ess varies according to vessel size and owner: small yacht steward/esses may be expected to cater for up to 12 people… this is why we have opened the galley training school, to assist in keeping yachting service standards at the highest level possible.  On larger yachts, although onboard training will be more advanced, junior steward/esses with developed skills are much more employable.  The management & advanced courses are more directed at those with experience who would like to take their department to the next level…
