Cannes Boat Show Illustrate Sales Could Set Sail
There was good news to boating enthusiasts who are looking for that new luxury yacht to sail the world or just go on vacation with.
The 33rd Annual Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show – Europe’s finest in-water boat show – ended and professionals as well as clients found that there was increased optimism after two years of uncertainty.
Over 400 exhibitors from 34 countries and 500 boats – 87 percent of which being from abroad – were displayed in the water at the Cannes Show. Upcoming trends have begun the season and trade professionals finally had smiles on their faces as more people looked to be in the market.Jean-Francois Fountaine, president of the French Nautical Industries Federation (F.I.N.), says that the previous unsure frowns have been defeated, but there are signs of hope.
“The foundations are healthy for beginning to restart the market, stocks are low, the new orders are now going to be translated into renewed activity,” Fountaine said.
Many exhibitors at the show reported profitable contacts, promising enquiries and orders that make it possible to be optimistic about the new season as show manager Eric de Saintdo believes.
In 2010, 54,000 visitors from all over Europe looked at, tried out and thought about buying one of the 500 boats on display. Among those boats, 139 models were new and world premieres.
