A 30-strong delegation came to Antalya to hold the bilateral talks with the cooperation of the Italian Trade Center, the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, or ACCI, and the Antalya branch office of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping, or DTO.

Speaking at the meeting, ACCI Vice Chairman Adnan Vucudi à–zen informed the Italian businessmen about Antalya’s tourism, agriculture and yacht sectors.

Antalya has climbed to fourth in the global yacht sector based on investments made in luxurious yacht production over the last 10 years, said à–zen. “Antalya has obtained a special place for itself in luxury yacht production. Our 50 companies with more than 1,500 workers in the Antalya Free Zone have started to become a world brand in mega yacht production and exported over 130 mega yachts in the last 10 years, bringing more than $135 million in foreign currency to Antalya. »

à–zen said annual yacht production capacity has surpassed 50 units. “Last year, around 50 yachts were sold. This year the figure is expected to be around 25. A substantial proportion of the yachts, which are produced mostly by Turkish workers and engineers, are exported to countries such as Italy, France, the United States, Middle Eastern countries, the Netherlands, Portugal, Georgia, the United Kingdom and Germany. »

With the improvement of luxury yacht production, the boat supply industry has also developed, said à–zen, adding that the proportion of the utilization of Turkish goods is increasing each day.

Anna Maria di Gennaro from the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade said Italian Trade Center is a public institution and aims to provide the improvement of small- and medium-sized enterprises, or SMEs. She said they wish to contribute to the development of the cooperation between Italian and Turkish businesspeople.

These bilateral talks between Turkish and Italian yachting businessmen are a first and will continue, said Pina Macri, the manager of the Revenna Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Noting that Turkey ranks third in Italy’s exports, the cooperation in yachting will improve, said Macri.

Macri also said there may be some joint investments with Turkish businesspeople on the horizon.
